Introduction
SEECA Super-Sight is Dr. D’s artificial intelligence enhanced - branded approach to refractive lens exchange. As stated earlier, this is the one and only procedure that is offered at Thibodaux CITI EYE.
During the procedure, the eye’s natural lens is replaced with an advanced artificial lens.
The procedure is painless and lasts about 7-10 minutes; there are typically no drops to put in the eye during recovery and there is typically no down time. We do one eye first and then the second eye about a month later. People usually have 20/20 vision the next day and after the procedure, you cannot see or feel the lens. There is no maintenance on the lens, which is inside of the eye, and it maintains its clarity and function forever.
SEECA Super Sight corrects all myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism AND presbyopia allowing the person to see clearly at both distance and near forever - without glasses, bifocals or contact lenses.
There is no time limit disclaimer necessary with this lens because there are no moving parts, no batteries and therefore nothing can “wear out.” Compared to other medical implants, [knee, hip, heart valve, pacemaker, stent, etc] the PANOPTIX PRO stands alone as the best implant in all of medicine.
Because the natural lens has been replaced, you will never develop a cataract or need cataract surgery.

Specifics of the SEECA Super Sight
Dr. D uses advanced diagnostics including the iTrace, Pentacam, Retina OCT, slit lamp exam, dilated fundus exam, autorefractor, phoropter, Argos A-Scan, and ORA as well as the PANOPTIX PRO lens. During the procedure, our surgeons use the most advanced Alcon equipment [Centurion and Luxor digital microscope] to perform the procedure in our dedicated eye surgery center, St. Luke's Surgery Center.
People are impressed by the number of elements and team members that are necessary to flawlessly perform this procedure. The procedure is easy for the patient, but make no mistake, there is an orchestra of movement involved in every single procedure that must be perfect.
After people have the procedure, they are universally awe-struck with how professional the entire process was. But they realize it is a major production to create this simple and elegant result.
All this technology is wrapped in proprietary artificial intelligence [invented by Dr. D] that puts everything seamlessly together.
Super-Sight does not change the shape of the cornea as is done in Lasik. Rather, SEECA Super Sight addresses the root cause of the eyes inability to see: THE LENS.
Simply put, SEECA Super Sight permanently replaces the aging and non-functional natural lens that causes presbyopia. Once presbyopia begins, it is only a matter of time before the presbyopic lens [defined as a lens that cannot focus at near] worsens and becomes a lens that cannot focus clearly on distant objects either.
A comparison to Lasik
Most people know about Lasik, and therefore it's useful to use Lasik as a comparison to help people understand how amazing SEECA Super Sight really is.
Lasik, invented in the 90’s, changed ophthalmology forever, because it is so precise. But there are specific limitations that SEECA Super Sight does not have that occur with Lasik. Simply put, SEECA Super Sight is far better than Lasik for patients who are over 40.
This is not a negative summary of Lasik. We love Lasik and have performed it for years, but SEECA Super Sight is far better than Lasik in a number of important ways that we will discuss below.
Lasik is great for people under 40 and it reshapes the cornea, which negates the need for glasses. But, in fact, the cornea is not the problem in patients with presbyopia. The problem with presbyopia is the lens does not focus correctly.
Changing the shape of the cornea will mask this deficit for a few years, but it will not cure the lens presbyopia nor will it cure the cataract that will form as the person matures.
SEECA Super Sight permanently cures the lenses inability to focus [presbyopia] by replacing the dysfunctional natural lens with an artificial lens. It also simultaneously cures the need for cataract surgery in the future.
LASIK reshapes the cornea and is always temporary. SEECA Super Sight replaces the defective lens and lasts forever.
Lasik worsens dry eye syndrome in patients because Lasik creates a large corneal flap and transects corneal nerves across a broad area. That temporarily reduces corneal sensation and disrupts the feedback loop controlling tearing. SEECA Super Sight uses a very small incision [2.8 millimeters – about the size of a sesame seed] that heals almost immediately. Therefore, there is essentially no long-term worsening of dry eye syndrome.
Lasik requires drops for about 2 weeks after surgery whereas there are typically no drops with SEECA Super Sight.
LASIK does not stop the natural lens inside the eye from losing the ability to focus and developing a cataract. SEECA Super Sight cures both of these issues forever.
This means someone who had LASIK will eventually need glasses later and will require cataract surgery. Patients that have SEECA Super Sight will typically never need reading glasses nor will they ever need cataract surgery.
One way to think about this is that if you get Lasik, you will absolutely need glasses and additional eye surgery in the future. If you get SEECA Super Sight, it will be the last eye surgery procedure you will typically ever get.
Risks with SEECA Super Sight?
There is 0% additional risk with this procedure. That seems impossible until you think about it for two minutes. This procedure is exactly the same as cataract surgery, which you will have to get eventually. When you get SEECA Super Sight or traditional cataract surgery, the risk is essentially the same. But some people will question that even further and here is the truth. If you do the surgery now, instead of waiting, the risk of a problem is actually lower now. Why? Because cataracts get structurally harder as time goes by. So doing a SEECA Super Sight lens removal on a soft lens now is very safe and easy. It's a layup in basketball parlance. When you wait until the cataract is “ripe” or harder, the procedure becomes more difficult, the healing takes longer and the inflammation after the cataract surgery is greater. This makes sense because the cataract is now significantly harder. This progression turns an easy layup into a 3 point shot. Easy for a great cataract surgeon, but definitely more difficult.
Is Super-Sight Right for Everyone?
No procedure is appropriate for every patient.
The best choice depends on your age, eye health, visual goals, occupation, lifestyle and expectations. Certain corneal, retinal, optic-nerve or other eye conditions may affect whether Super-Sight is appropriate for you.
Super-Sight is designed to reduce dependence on glasses, but no responsible surgeon can promise perfect vision in every situation. Some patients may still benefit from glasses for certain tasks, and all eye procedures have potential risks and limitations.
That is why the process begins with an extensive CITI EYE evaluation.
Our team will use advanced diagnostic technology to carefully evaluate your eyes. Your visit will culminate in a personal examination and consultation with Dr. D, who will explain your options, answer your questions and help determine whether Super-Sight is the right choice for you.
A New Possibility for Your Vision
LASIK has changed the way people think about vision correction.
Dr. D believes Super-Sight represents the next evolution: addressing not only a patient’s current prescription, but also the aging natural lens that eventually leads to reading glasses and cataracts.
The goal is simple: to provide a broad range of useful vision and lasting freedom from everyday dependence on bifocals, reading glasses and contact lenses.
